The document versioning is managed seemlessly by InqNote®. Anytime a document is saved, InqNote® will look after the versioning of the document without the user involvement in the process. Version control is an important function in helping user to retrace his or her steps back to historical information.

Digital signatures

Sign all finalised documents and outputs using public-private cryptography.
Just before the user registration is completed, a personalised RSA private key will be made available to the user to keep in a safe place, since InqNote® will not store the private keys. In the events when user comes to finalise any document, template, result, etc. documents will be signed digitally and kept in readonly state. Digitally signed documents can be used in legal intellectual property rights disputes.

Secure Design

Physically separate APIs and stores for each team, inaccessible via Internet.
Each client's data is stored on its own private server(s). The web API sercice accessing the client's databases is also unique to each client requirement. All the backend stores and services run inside a private local area network without access to Internet. InqNote® will issue one invite to a user with admin role appointed by the client. From there on it is the responsibility of the admin to send the invites to users who are known to him or her. Users can have team leader, user or guest roles. Upon successful registration of a user, he or she will need to login to InqNote® with an additional two factor authentication pin generated on the user's smart phone. Once logged in to InqNote® platform the connection is encrypted. Information security by design.

Use Kanban boards, Gantt charts and schedulers to plan and manage tasks.
The project management app consists of Kanban boards, Gantt charts and multi-calendarical schedulers. The Kanban boards are used to break down experiments or projects into parts and tasks (or cards). Associate each task with colour, description, start and end dates, with an individual member of your team. Optionaly synchronise a Kanban board with a Gantt chart and schedule. Each schedule can be formatted with Gregorian, Chinese, Persian or Arabic calendars.

Use a web-based report designer to design reports.
Using data structures styled from your forms and sheets, you can design reports visually and embed the reports inside your notebooks. The reports are updated automatically whenever your data entry forms are updated inside the notebook.

Use a web-based dashboard designer to design inteactive BI dashboards.
Using data structures styled from your forms and sheets, you can design dashboards visually and embed the dashboards inside your notebooks, or other extensions needed, such as for example the patient medical record extension. Your designs can contain anything from simple text fields to interactive pivot tables and charts. The dashboards are updated automatically whenever your data entry forms are updated inside the notebook or other extensions.

Diagramming tools are available for brain storming and formal diagramming. Once a diagram is created, it will be versioned and can be shared with team members.

The Rich Editor module is a fully functional Microsoft Word® compatible word processor with the ability to import, edit and export Word® documents. The Spreadsheet module is also a fully compatible Microsoft Excel® spreadsheet with the ability to import, edit and export Excel® documents. It supports over 450 Excel® formulae, with extensive number of chart types. Furthermore document versioning is fully supported by both modules.

Build, upload your SOP protocols. Share with a range of permissions.
When a procotol is described and related file is uploaded, the protocol owner can assign permissions to team members to use or edit the protocol. Once a protcol is saved, provided it is not finalised, document versioning would be automatically applied on further updates. Protocol(s) will be required when saving data entry forms.

Result templates (data entry forms) can be designed either using a free style form designer or a spreadsheet like designer, in either mode validation rules and business workflows can be applied. Using spreadsheet designer, parts of the sheet and formulae can disabled, and user be prompted to edit only the allowed cells.

A notebook is a way of categorising related observations, consisting of free text, formatted text, result templates, any number of files as attachments. If a user has subscribed to using an extended functionality, say the Spectrocopy extension, then uploaded spectra shall be available as interactive components on the pages of the notebook.
